Hello all,

Since the digital ban came into effect on eBay earlier in the year, there have been many discussions on people’s blogs, forums and newsletters about the best way to deliver your products.

I am slowly turning all of my ‘eBooks’ into multimedia CD ROMs and slowly but surely getting them listed on eBay. At the time of writing this, I have about 30 products on eBay now. You can visit my store, CD ROMS in my eBay store.

Before the digital ban came into effect, I was not aware how to create a CD ROM. Sure I knew how to burn files to a CD, but I want to be, and create professional looking products. Just sending a CD in a plastic sleeve with my hand writing on it of what the product was would not impress my customer, so I needed to learn how to do this properly.

It just so happens, I am a member of John Thornhill’s 90 day powerseller challenge site and John has done a superb job of updating his members area to reflect the change in eBay policy. He has created step by step video tutorials on how to create CD ROMs and even provides templates which you are free to use if you wish, for both your listing and CD ROM.

So far I am very happy with how things are going. I have made 5 sales which comes to the value of £17.95. 5 sales might not seem a lot, but I have only 30 different products listed and only just started listing them about one and a half weeks ago. I am going to be adding more and more products, and I am confident I will be mailing more and more CD’s.

Before the digital ban came into effect on eBay, there were literally hundred’s of people selling eBooks on eBay. This ofcourse meant competition was high. Now if you do a search for CD ROMs, there only seems to be a handful of people selling them. This means there is little or no competition. I would recommend this as a form of income from your internet venture. I highly recommend John Thornhill’s 90 day powerseller program.

Another product highly recommended which will show you how to create your own CD ROM is Digital Media Solutions.

This, ofcourse, is one solution to the digital ban on eBay. Once I have increased my inventory in my eBay store, I will then be looking at other avenues for selling my digital products, and as ever, my blog readers will be the first to read about my findings.

This is just a quick post to let you know that John Thornhill, the creator of 90 day powerseller challenge, has hinted on his blog, that he is currently working on updating this product so that it is inline with the new eBay policy on digital items. Once he has done this, and he says this should be by the end of the week, the price will go up by probably double. So if you have been thinking about buying this product, now is the time to do so. I am a member of this package, and I can’t speak highly enough of it. It is this program that got me started selling information products on eBay and into internet marketing. He has also said that all existing members, including you if you buy it, will get updates at no extra cost. Take a look HERE.

Hello everyone,

This is just a quick post to tell you about a great product I have come across that will help you overcome the digital delivery ban on eBay. One of the options, as mentioned in an earlier post, is to create multimedia info discs (cd roms).

This product is called digital media solutions. It is created by a guy called Dave Nicholson. It will guide you step by step in the form of video tutorials, and will show you how to create your own multimedia info discs. You can use this method to sell products that you were previously delivering to your customers digitally.

As the ban is still in its early days, your competition on eBay is small, so get your products our there now by using Dave’s easy to follow step by step tutorial. He shows you how to do this using completly free methods and tools. Click HERE for more information.

I wish you every success.

Hello everyone,

I thought that it’s about time I gave you an update on what I have found so far from my research about other methods just in case you had thought I had given up. Firstly let me assure you, I most definately have not given up.

If you were a digital item seller on eBay, such as selling eBooks or website templates, have you decided what you are going to do yet? Have you decided if you are going to do anything at all, or are you just going to give up?

Those of you that know me will know I was mainly concentrating on selling eBooks, but I also sell physical products on eBay under another eBay username (marc-in-sure-u-get-it). This is one example of a point I briefly touched on a couple of posts ago. And that is not to be putting all of your eggs in one basket. This, for me at least, is the biggest lesson I have learnt from this change in eBay policy.

Anyway, as coincidence would have it, before the ban came into effect, I started work on writing my first eBook. When the ban was announced actually made me even eager to get on with it. That is because the subject that the eBook is on, is about making a profit outside of eBay by selling on other platforms. Not just for digital products, but for any product generally. Mainly physical products as this is what I started selling on eBay when I first started and hence have more experience with.

During my research for the eBook, I have found numerous other avenues for selling online. I am going to briefly mention those I have found where you can sell digital products. I have not used any of them yet, except for one (but I assure you I will be experimenting with them), so I will not go into details about any of them, but here are my findings so far:

Probably the most obvious, and you may have already read a lot about this on other blogs, is to sell your digital items on eBay still, but despatch them on CD or DVD. You do this by creating multimedia CD roms. Other blogs which have gone into some detail are John Thornhill (aka PlanetSMS), Daniel Sumner and Socrates Socratous. This method deserves at least a couple of posts on its own and I will post more on this later once I have had an opportunity to look at it more, but for now I recommend reading the above mentioned blogs if you want to consider this as an option. Despite what I said in my previous post, I will be looking at this option.

Sell your digital products via your own website. There are ofcourse advantages and disadvantages to this. This is the only place you can buy ebooks from me at the moment. My website is www.info-sources.co.uk. However, the only item on there available at time of writing this post, is a collection of eBooks, as I have taken down the main pages as I am improving my delivery method of the products, but feel free to go and have a look. If you would like to consider this as one of your methods, then I recommend John Thornhill’s 90 day powerseller package. Again there is so much in this package, it really deserves it’s own post to go into depth about it. I will do this at some point too.

I have done a search for other auction sites that allow the sale of digitally delivered products. I have not used any yet, so these are not in any specific order or even a recommendation, but just to let you know they are out there. www.wagglepop.com, www.ecrater.com, www.saddlery4you.co.uk, www.cqout.com, www.bidville.com, www.121bid.com. Remember, all of these sites are much smaller than eBay, but even eBay was small once. Again, remember not to put all of your eggs in one basket.

Use clickbank and also get other people to sell your digital products for you. This is a service where you can register your products and have affiliates help you market your product.

A site exclusively for buying and selling digital products is www.payloadz.com. The site also gives you tutorials. One very useful tutorial is on how to set up autodelivery of your products with sales made on this site. Again, I have not put it into action yet, but I will certainly be giving it a try.

As I mentioned above, I am using one of the above methods and that is having your own site. At least with this method, you are in complete control of everything. The other methods I have not yet tried, but I will be experimenting with them. There are also other auction sites not listed above, but there are just too many to mention. That does not mean that those above are recommendations, I have put those there as I found them fairly easily on google, and if I did, the chances are potential buyers will as well. Ofcourse that is important, as it provides traffic. It doesn’t take a genius to work out, more traffic = more sales. Also another good reason why not to rely on one selling platform.

If you have used any of the above methods, or if you havent’t yet, but you do in the future, please do post your comments of how you get on and what you think so we can all benefit from your experiences.

Marc Sampson.

Yes, you read that right. Basically, it is not just eBooks that is banned from eBay, it is digitally delivered products including website templates, eBooks, graphics etc. If you are a digital product seller, you may already know this.

Here is the official announcement: ttp://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200803241300132.html

Ofcourse this does not mean you cannot use ‘more conventional’ methods of delivering your digital product, i.e. snail mail. However, when people search for information on the internet, not just eBay, they want it instantly. They wont want to wait for 2-3 days for it to arrive in the post. It may be worth testing as this will be the only way of finding out if it will work, however eBay is not the only platform to be selling your digital products.

I think a very important lesson we can all learn from this is not to put all of your eggs on one basket, i.e. not to rely on one place to sell your items, be it digital or otherwise. I am going to be doing some looking around at other selling platforms and I will post again with my findings.

If you insert your name and email address in the box above, I will notify you when I have posted information about this and indeed any other updates to this blog.

Until then, your comments are always welcome.

Marc.

Hello again,

Yes, you have read that correctly. You can get started doing the same as what I do, and it doesn’t have to cost you a penny.

But I don’t have any products Marc, which I can sell, so surely I would have to buy some first?

That is where you are wrong. You see I can help you out there. If you visit my eBay store by clicking on the link in the ‘My other websites’ category, and then clicking on my about me page, you have the opportunity to sign up for my newsletter. Upon doing so, you will receive 5 eBooks, completely free which you can start selling straight away and keep 100% of the profit. One of these 5 eBooks is the first eBook that I bought. Tbis was John Thornhill’s ’90 day powerseller challenge’. Even if you don’t have your own hosting to upload your eBooks onto, I even include an email template which you can use, which will send your customers to my site to download from.

We all have to start somewhere, and if you are thinking of starting out in the information business, then I beleive this would be a good place to start.

If you decide to do this, then I wish you all the success. If you need any help or guidance, feel free to contact me through eBay. I will be adding a link onto this blog at sometime for you to email me directly on, but for now, please use the communication tools available through eBay.

That’s all for now.
