A couple of posts ago, I wrote a short article on the new rules explaining that the number of characters you can use in an eBay listing has increased from 55 to 80. I also included a few tips on how to use your extra characters.

Well, on the latest eBay radio show broadcast on 27th September they also spoke about this. So I thought I would share this with you. They pretty much said the same as what I said in my post as well as further ideas. I urge you to listen to it. Simply click on this link to hear it. It will play through your web browser and will open in a new window:

http://www.voicemarketingradio.com/vmr/sites/default/files/audio-segments/eBayRadio-Show438-Segment4.mp3

I listen to this show every Tuesday, and if you are serious about getting the most out of eBay, I strongly recommend you do also.

But you may be asking “How do I tune in?”

1. Log into your eBay account on www.ebay.com regardlss of where your account is registered.

2. Then at the top right hand corner of the screen, you will see some drop down menus. Hover over ‘communit’y and click on ‘groups’

3. Half way down the page in the centre, there is a box ‘Browse group categories’. Type ‘ebay radio’ and click search.

4. Only one result comes up, click on this. You will need to sign up to the group to access it

You can listen to old shows, download to your mp3 player to listen on the go, and listen to live shows. You will get an email the day any show is broadcast live.

Just thought I would share this with you.

Happy listening.

I have just purchased Multi Profit Monthly for an unbelievably low price of only $5. To me it was a no brainer. It is a 12 internet marketing training course made by two very successful Internet marketers making good money online today. I have purchased products from John in the past and have never looked back. Like wise with this product, I am not disappointed.

John Thornhill and Dave Nicholson are two Internet Marketers on a
mission, they are tired of hearing stories where new marketers to
the industry are being put off getting online by being taken
advantage of by those more ‘questionable’ marketers out there, to
prove this they have made a massive reduction on one of their
flagship products called Multi Profit Monthly. Instead of paying
the usual $47 per month for membership they are letting you have
access for a single payment of $5, yes you read that right, $5

As mentioned above, this is a year long training program
delivered in monthly instalments to ensure the beginners out there
get every last nugget of information out of everything they have to
say, but if you buy today you can access the whole 12 months
training program right away, meaning you can fast track your way to
success.

Multi Profit Monthly is the product you have been waiting for to
explain all you need to know about Internet Marketing in easy to
follow monthly instalments using both video and audio to help make
sure you understand fully the topic being covered.

This really is an excellent product and I fully endorse it and
highly recommend you check this product out this very second as the
price of this extremely powerful program.

Also, I’m sure John and Dave must have a few screws loose as the $5
price they have decided to give away this powerful training program
for is RIDICULOUSLY low.

Go check it out…

Just changed for the month of September is the number of characters eBay allow in the listing title. It was 55 characters and now is 80 characters.

I don’t know about you, but quite often I run out of characters when choosing keywords to put into my titles, so this is good news indeed. Here is the link to the new policy on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie.

Giving you space to write better item titles

I have also checked out the news pages on the US and Canada sites. This also applies to eBay.com but I can’t see anything about this on eBay.ca. If any of my Canadian readers find differently, please leave a reply below this post.

The link above also gives you advice on best using your listing title. You should always try to use all 80 characters without keyword spamming, i.e. using words not relevant to the product. I have done a post some time ago with a video also giving advice on how to write a good title. You will find this in the ‘eBay’ and ‘Videos’ categories of my blog. However the main rule is to try and think what words people will type to search for your item. The number of times I have seen ‘WOW’ or ‘L@@K’ when this is just a waste of character space.

I hope you have found this post of some use.

I know I have already covered this topic in previous posts by showing you items I bought that were poorly listed and listing them and showing you the results. But I found such a poorly listed item more recently, I just had to do another.

In this video you will see the item I won at an unbelievably low 99p, and what the same product is currently selling for, and finally my re list.

So I will do another short video after this auction ends to show you the result. I’m sure this will have a very high profit margin, but in 10 days time we will find out for sure.

I just want to touch on another method of product sourcing. This is my main method and also my favourite.

That is selling information, training videos and software via CD ROM’s. If you go to my eBay store (info-sources eBay store) you will see the type of products I sell. I also sell non CD ROM products, but all of my CD ROM’s are shown at the top of the category links down the left hand side.

You will notice that the prices range from £1.99 through to £17.00, and I regularly sell all of them.

The beauty of selling these products, is that you only need to acquire the product once, but you can resell it as many times as you like. The reason for this is because you acquire products which come with ‘resale rights’. You would be mistaken for thinking that these type of products come with a high price tag when you first purchase them, but actually you would be incorrect.

These are mainly eBooks which I have converted into CD ROM products, as you are no longer allowed to sell ‘non physical’ items on eBay.

The first eBook I bought was ‘The 90 day powerseller challenge’. It does what it says on the tin. It walks you through the steps required to become an eBay powerseller in 90 days by selling eBooks. However, since the first version of this was released there have been many policy changes on eBay. Hence there has been a second, third and now newly released, a fourth version. This walks you through the steps required to become a powerseller in 90 days by selling CD ROM products, just as I do.

This product itself is a CD ROM, and I am selling it in my shop for just £1.99 and it comes with resale rights. Here is the link to the listing 90 day powerseller challenge v4.0. It you are wanting a copy, I wouldn’t hang about though, as this listing is only for 20 copies.

I have mentioned in one of my other posts regarding new rules for using the word ‘powerseller’ and the powerseller logo in your listings. You can find that post HERE. This does not mean the powerseller program no longer exists. In fact you first need to become a powerseller before you can go on to become a Top Rated Seller, which is the goal for most sellers, as it comes with many benefits.

If you have never seen the 90 day powerseller challenge before then I highly recommend you check it out, as this is what got me started, not only selling information on eBay, but has also led me into the internet marketing business.

The auctions have now ended.

Watch this video to see the results. Remember this video is just to show the procedure of what I do in this method of product sourcing. Each auction ended up with a higher price than those auctions that I won.

I use this method regularly, and it is very successful.

To learn more about this subject, I recommend eBay arbitrage, the complete guide to flipping, which will show you in more detail how to search, find, buy and re-sell products on eBay for huge profits.

This post is a repost of an earlier post that for some reason will not display, so I have had to re do it. It follows on from ‘Product sourcing for you ronline auction business 5.1 – ebay arbitrage’

At the end of my last post, I said I had some products that I had won by using the technique I had explained. Now they have arrived. I have 6 bears to list. One of them, I will not make any profit from, as I did not do my research properly, so this will highlight why research is important. This particular bear, I have listed on a buy it now. All the other 5 bears I have listed on auction.

In the below video, I will show you the listings which I won, and the new listings I have made to relist them, and you will see the big difference in the listings.

This is how much I spent, including postage, on the items shown in this video:

Bundle of teddies – £3.49
The two me to you bears – £8.50
—————————————–
Total spent – £11.99

So, for this to be a success, I need for these combined auctions to finish for more than £11.99

I will write another blog post and make another video after the auction has ended. Depending on how the auction goes, I may well do a post and video half way through the auction too.

So, watch this space to see the results of this live eBay arbitrage experiment.

It has been several months since my last post in this topic series. Not because I had run out of ideas, far from it in fact, but just because I have had other things to talk to you about, and besides, I’m sure you have been having fun, and making money from the eBay arbitrage set of videos and posts. That method is one of my favourite way of sourcing products.

Anway, I now want to show you another method of sourcing products on eBay. This involves buying a job lot of an item. Again this is something I have had a lot of fun and success with, and in this video I show you how I find such listings, and generally what I go for. I also found a badly listed job lot, which I actually ended up winning.

Finding good job lots on eBay

The job lot of jewellery items I showed you in this video, I did snipe and ended up winning for £3.31. When I receive these and list them, I will do a video. Then when the auctions end, I will show you the results as proof that this method actually works.

I do also have fun with this method, just like I do with the arbitrage method.

If you give this a try, let me know using the comments box below how you get on and what you think to this method.

In my last post, I briefly explained about the new rules using references to the Powerseller status or logo in your listing.

I also mentioned that the powerseller program has not ended, but in fact you need to reach powerseller status before becoming a Top Rated Seller. Since that post, I have reached the prestigious status of Top Rated Seller (TRS). So you know that what I am about to tell you, or indeed have told you in previous posts, works.

Just as you can’t make reference to your powerseller status, the same applies to being a TRS also. I recently found this out when wanting to make reference to it in one of my listings. Your listing will ofcourse display the logo of your status on eBay anyway.

This post is tell you how to get your listings high up on eBay’s default search of ‘Best Match’. These are not listed in any particular order. This is actually quite a science, and no doubt I will not cover everything, but it is tips that I have picked up.

It is a violation to list multiple buy it now (BIN) listings of the same item. If you do, not only will you risk having your listing(s) removed, they will feature lower down in the search result, and if caught breaching the policy, seriously harm your chances of getting TRS status. What you should do is sell multiple items in a single listing.

If you have variations of the same product to sell, e.g. different colours, sizes of the same t-shirt, different quantities of the same item; packs of 10, 20, 30 etc. then do not list them all as separate listings, but create a multi variation listing. Not only will this appear higher in the ‘Best Match’ search result, but has other advantages too. Saves on listing fees; have a better chance of a customer buying more than one item from you; the title of the variation, e.g. red, green or small, medium, large etc are searchable terms saving you using these in the listing title, saving you characters for more key words. Do not underestimate the power of multiple variation listing.

Offer free postage. Okay, there is an argument that yes eBay then effectively get a commission on your postage costs, as you build it into the price. You might also think that you are less likely to sell more than one item, as you can’t offer a postage discount for multiple purchases. But what I have found is if you list more than one item at a time, list them with a best offer feature, and you will find people who want to buy more than one from you, will make you an offer, knowing that it will cost you less per item to send three for example. This is something I have found works very well.

Use popular key words for your product. This may seem obvious, but listings that receive a higher sale per page hit ratio will appear higher in the search results than a listing that has a lower sale per page hit ratio. If on average one listing makes a sale for every 5 page views, this will appear higher in the search results that a listing that makes a sale for every 7 page views. A very important reason why you should do key word research when writing your listing title. I have written a separate post on a free eBay market research tool which also gives you stats on keywords. This post also contains a video tutorial on using the tool.

If you are not happy about giving free postage, or just don’t want to, then do not overcharge on postage.

Use the item specifics section, as these also are searchable terms. For example, if you are selling a new item and select condition as ‘new’ in the item specifics, and do not put ‘new’ in the listing title, your listing will still appear when someone searches ‘new’ .

List your item in a relevant category, e.g. if you have an iPhone accessory to sell, do not list it in the iPhone mobile phone category, as there is a separate category for iPhone accessories.

Maintain high Detailed Seller Ratings (DSR’s). If another seller is selling the same product as you, and they have higher DSR’s it is likely their listing will appear higher in the search results than yours, even if their item is more expensive. So, post quickly, give accurate descriptions, do not overcharge on postage, and communicate with your customer.

Become a TRS. TRS’s listings appear higher in the ‘Best Match’ search results.

This is not an exhaustive list, but are the main points to remember. Bear in mind that ‘Best Match’ is eBay’s default search result, and most buyers do not change this, or even know they can, especially anyone new to eBay, so it is very important you get high visibility in these search results.

Product Sourcing Ideas for your Online Auction Business

I list several ways of sourcing products, most of which I have not yet covered. Now is an ideal time of year to be using one of these methods in particular. That method being car boot, garage, yard sales etc.

Many people use this method, and not any other method as you have virtually an endless supply of products at next to nothing prices. It is amazing what price people sell their unwanted items for at a car boot sale. For example, my sister went to a car boot sale two weeks ago, and bought a Barbie doll for her 3 year old daughter for 50 pence. I saw it too, it is in immaculate condition. Now you go and search completed listings for used Barbie dolls, that’s all I am saying. And that is just one item from which there are literally thousands of bargains to be had.

If you are not sure of where your nearest car boot sale is, then carbootjunction.com will tell you what you need to know.

To learn more about finding products at car boot sales, garage sales etc then Garage Sales Strategies for eBay Success will tell you what to look for when finding products to buy to resell on eBay.

Now that finally we have some good weather, get out there and grab some bargains to make hugh profits with.

Please share any success stories you have and products you find from this method, by leaving comments below.

GOOD LUCK.
