As of EOD 17th May
Target: £187
Actual: £180.70

Since I last made a post, I have done a couple of things to help increase traffic to my listings.

I have continually added new products to my store, as usual.

I have been increasing my twitter followers which in turn will increase traffic to my eBay store. I now have over 1,000 followers.

One of the new products I have added to my eBay listings is the series of videos which has taught me all I know about Twitter. Here are just a few things the video series will teach you

How to quickly increase your followers

How to design your own graphic for use as your twitter background and how to upload it

How to integrate Twitter with Aweber

How to integrate Twitter with your wordpress blog

How to automatically follow people when someone follows you

How to automatically send a customised message to your new follower

plus much more

I now have these videos available on CD ROM viewable on all PC platforms, via my eBay store. Click HERE to see the Video CD ROM category of my eBay store. Hint: especially for my blog readers. I have not advised of this anywhere else. I have set this up on ‘best offer’. It is on a buy it now for £9.99, but if you put in an offer for £5.00 or higher, I have set the listing up to automatically accept your offer.

There is a very easy way to make your own ebook covers, cd covers, ezine covers etc, and it only takes a few minutes. You can do this with the software called ”eCover creator’. I am selling this software in my eBay store.

Most people will have heard of Twitter by now. Basically you can post messages of up to 140 characters long that people who choose to follow you can read. So how can you use this to promote your online business?

I listen to eBay radio quite often and they have guest speakers on. One particular show, a speaker was talking about Twitter; what it is and how to use it effectively to promote your eBay business. By using the same methods she speaks about, there is no reason why these tactics can’t be used to promote any online business not just your eBay business. To listen to this particular show, CLICK HERE.

I have signed up to Twitter and you can follow me here www.twitter.com/marcsampson.

Listen to the show, and then sign up to Twitter here www.twitter.com.

Once you have signed up, you will have a url like mine, www.twitter.com/marcsampson. You can then put this at the end of emails, on your website, even in your eBay messages. All in all, it’s a great free marketing tool.

If you are registered on twitter, feel free to post a comment below with your twitter url so other readers of this blog can follow you if they want (including me).

There is a piece of software which allows you to create your own video website on any niche subject you desire. This is one that I created in only a few minutes http://www.info-sources.co.uk/imvideos/

Here is a short video that I made which shows how easy the software is to use and how quickly you can create your own video niche websites.

You can create as many video websites as you like using this software. The only limitation is your imagination and the videos actually available on the youtube website. For example, I created a site on internet marketing. Here are just a few ideas of the top of my head:

Affiliate marketing

Article marketing

Email marketing

Your favourite band/artist

Any film, for example James Bond

Gardening

The list is endless.

If you watched the above video, you will have noticed that you can also generate a small income from Google Adsense and Amazon affiliate payments.

Here is the link to the website that I created whilst making this video which is on eBay www.info-sources.co.uk/ebayvideos

You can purchase this software from my eBay store at www.stores.ebay.co.uk/Info-Sources. You will find it in the ‘software’ category.

I use AWeber as my autoresponder service and highly recommend it, but it does come with a monthly fee of US$19.99. There is also another very popular service called Get Response, but I don’t know anything about this.

However, if you don’t yet have an autoresponder, but want one without the monthly fees, I recommend Autoresponder Unlimted. I am selling this in my eBay store at www.stores.ebay.co.uk/Info-Sources, under the ‘software’ category for £9.99. This is about the same price as one month’s subscription to AWeber.

The main disadvantage though, with Autoresponder Unlimted, is you can’t send out Ad-hoc emails. The main advantage is that you can install it on to as many websites as you want.

I have made two instructional videos to show you how easy it is to set up and use.

Video one shows you how to install Autoresponder Unlimted onto your website.

Video two shows you how to use Autoresponder Unlimted.

If you would like to own this software, visit my eBay store www.stores.ebay.co.uk/Info-Sources and click on the software category link down the left hand side and it will be sent to you on CD ROM.

Just a couple of days ago, someone left me the following comment on my blog;

“Site is nothing special, and some of the blog categories don’t make sense. Not a site I would return to.. you are not master class you are 3rd class just selling affiliate programs . It will never help you succeed. Your site is very confusing .all your site can do is make money for you and not others .”

Of course, when I first read that, I was taken back. “What a cheek”, I thought to myself. I certainly disagree with the last sentence. Many of my posts are simply to provide help and information, and do not even refer to any products. I deleted the comment as the commenter also put in his/her website, and I thought, “Why should they have their website on my blog generating traffic with comments like that’.

Perhaps I reacted with too much haste. I now wish I had allowed the comment to go ahead. The reason being, I could allow you to see it to prove I’m not making it up, and also because of this, I have actually received constructive feedback as a result.

I wanted other peoples opinion. Maybe the commenter has a point. Is this really how people view my blog? “The best way to find out” I thought, “is to ask”. I am a member of the Warrior Forum, so I decided to start a thread to ask other people’s honest opinion.

Unfortunately, I can’t show you the forum thread, as the moderators of the forum have deleted it. But the point is, if you find yourself in a similar situation, just think to yourself how you can take advantage of it. Without his comment, I simply wouldn’t have got this feedback. I will use these comments, and you will see a different looking blog. This wont happen overnight, as I need to learn how to implement these suggested changes.

Over the last few days, I have been getting emails in from a well know internet marketer called John Thornhill which I have just been filling away with all of the other emails I get from him, as I don’t read every single email from everybody every day. It just so happens that today, I did read the email I received from him.

Before I get in to what the email was about, and what has prompted this post, I would like to tell you about how I came to know of John Thornhill, and how he has personally helped me get to where I am today on the internet.

It all started when I came across this eBook on eBay called ‘The 90 day powerseller challenge’. I don’t think I need to tell you what the eBook is about. But if you are interested, I sell the CD ROM version of this eBook in my eBay store, under the category eBay. From this eBook, I went on and bought John Thornhill’s flagship product www.90-day-powerseller.com which is quite similar to the CD ROM version of the product. From this I learnt how to set up an eBay store, how to sell eBooks on eBay and how to automate delivery of the products and how to set up an eBook website with the help of a members only dedicated forum and video tutorials.

About one year ago, John then set up a coaching program, which I also joined, as I felt I wanted to broaden my horizons regarding marketing on the internet. On this program, I learnt how to set up this blog. Yes the very one you are reading now, how to build a mailing list, making a product from scratch (I’m still making it though, watch this space), how to market that product, and repeat the process.

In a nut shell, everything I have learnt and done on the internet in terms of internet marketing, I owe to John Thornhill. If you read this John, thank you.

So what was that email about that I received from John today? Of Course, I am on John’s mailing list, and he has launched just today a very similar program to the one I joined a year ago.

You too can learn everything that I have learnt and much more. The product John is launching is John Thornhill’s Masterclass. If after you read my post from two days ago you feel all geared up and motivated to achieve your goals, but don’t know where to begin or how to start, then you cannot get a better mentor than John Thornhill himself. He will show you as a complete beginner how to start your internet marketing work at home career. Click HERE to learn more about it and also to watch a video of John Thornhill himself. I sincerely cannot thank John enough for everything he has taught me, and if you join his masterclass and put in the work involved, you will be thanking him too, I GUARANTEE IT.

If you seriously want to succeed online, I wouldn’t hang about, go check it out now as John is only allowing a very limited number of people to join as he is giving one on one tuition and when I joined the similar program he ran last year, the places sold out in around 2 hours.

I was watching an internet marketing DVD over the weekend, and the speaker put this quotation on the screen for the audience to have a think about at the end of his speech. He didn’t say anything else about it, just for the audience to think about what it means.

This got me thinking, and it makes perfect sense. I already have motivation to try my very best to accomplish my goals, now I’m more motivated than I ever was before.

What do you want to accomplish online or even in your life generally? Well, of course, my blog is about internet marketing, so I will talk in terms of accomplishing your goals on line as an internet marketer. By the way, when I say internet marketer, I also include auction sites such as eBay. After all that is a form of marketing too.

Have you got ideas in your head of what you want to achieve online? Let’s say you want to create your own product, as this is probably true for most people who want to succeed, as this is what we are continually being told by those who have become successful right? So let me ask you a question. If you have a project but you have not yet finished it, or even started it, then why not? Ask yourself that question now.

Did you say ‘I don’t know how to do it?’ Did you answer, ‘I can’t do it?’ Did you say ‘I haven’t written that eBook because I don’t think it will sell.’ Either way, they all have the same meaning. If this was your answer, then you are right. It wont sell. You can’t do it so why even bother.

Or…..

….. am I wrong about you. Did you say, I have an idea of what I want to do, and I know it will be a success. If this is your answer. You are 100% correct. it will work. Your product will sell and you will make it a success.

Basically, if you truely believe that you wont succeed, then you are not even going to try. You wont put in the hours necessary to make a success of what ever your ideas are. Does that make sense?

On the other hand, if you know you will be successful, you know that your product idea will bring in a substantial amount of money, then you are going to make that effort. You will write that eBook and do a proper job of it. You will put in the time and effort necessary.

Whether you believe you can or you can’t you are right.

Now I want to ask you another question. What do you want to achieve, even if it seems impossible? Do you want to pay of your mortgage and all of your debts, credit cards and/or loans within the next two years? Do you want to own a million pound house? You are probably saying to yourself, I’m on cloud cuckoo, and there is no way you can achieve this. Well, if that is what you are thinking, then you are right….you wont do it.

But what if you really believed you could….?

Now, I have done this, and I would like you to do the same. Get a piece of paper and a pen, and write down what you would like to achieve from the internet, and give yourself a date of when you want to achieve it by. It might be in 2 years time, 3 years, or longer still. So you might have something like ‘In 5 years time, I would like to have…..’

Now write it again, but instead of writing ‘I would like’, write, ‘I will have’. So it might read, ‘In 5 years time I will have a beach front villa in Portugal’, for example. Or ‘By the end of the year, I will be a power seller on eBay.’ But don’t just stick to one thing. Go on, be greedy. If you want a beach front villa in Portugal, you will want to be able to enjoy it right? So you may have something like……

‘In 5 years time, I will have

A beach front villa in Portugal all paid for

Have a million pound in the bank

My kids in a private school

Now read it out loud. Does that feel good? Read it out loud every day. This will motivate you and you will believe you can accomplish these goals. You also have goals to work towards so therefore you will accomplish these goals.

Link to this post

Hello,

I have just a few days ago completed a transfer process on my blog. It’s nothing that will be visible to my blog visitor, as I have changed my hosting company to Blackwater Internet. I have wanted to change my hosting company for some time, but I kept putting of making the move because I didn’t know how.

So, how did I do it then if I didn’t know how? Well I will tell you. I simply done a search for the information on the internet. I typed into google something like ’How do I change hosting for my wordpress blog?’. Hundreds of results came up, so I had to siv through a lot of the websites until I found a guide that I could understand and was easy to follow. This was difficult and even though I have changed my hosting, there was still one part of the process I did not understand and could not work out how to do it. It is not a compulsory part of the process, so I didn’t worry about it to much.

Because I found it difficult to find an easy to follow guide, I thought I would write my own that may belp others. So here it is.

Make sure you have updated to the latest version of wordpress. At the time of writing this, the latest version is 2.7.

Backup your database(s) to your computer. Back it up to at least one other media source as well as your hard drive. If you are not sure how to do this, click HERE.

Back up all of the files from your blog. If you do not do this properly, you run a high risk of loosing comments, posts, plugin, themes etc. It is therefore a very good idea to back this up to several different media types, for example, your hard drive, an external hard drive, flash drive or memory stick, cd/dvd. You can do this from either in your c panal (control panel) or from your ftp program. I prefer to use my ftp program, and use filezilla. Log into your webspace using your ftp program. Select where on your computer you would like to download your blog files to. Find the directory on your webspace where your blog is. If it’s in the root of your website, i.e. www.yourdomain.com then find the folder ‘public_html’. Right click on it and select download. If it is in a folder on your website, i.e. www.yourdomain.com/blog , then go to that folder in your webspace and right click on it and select download. Once you have downloaded it, as mentioned above, now download it to another media type. If you do not, and your hard drive corrupts or breaks down, you have lost your back up.

This is the part of the transfer process I did not understand, but I will tell you the theory of what you should do anyway. This step is not a compulsory part of the process. Now that you have backed up your blog, any other posts you make, comments made from blog readers etc, will not get transferred over. So until your blog is transferred do not make any more posts to your blog. In order to stop getting comments left on your blog, it is possible to stop people from leaving comments. The instructions that I found said to do this, ‘Log into your PhpMyAdmin panel and update the wp_posts SET comment_status to closed’. This is the part I did not do. If you know how to do this, please leave a comment below.

Now you have backed up your blog just in case anything goes wrong, during the transfer. If you have not registered your domain name with your new web host, you will now need your dns settings from your new web hosting company. If you do not know what they are, contact your host to get them. Log into the control panel where you have registered your domain name and change the dns settings to the ones your new web host has given you. This is called DNS propagation and usually takes between 24-48 hours.

You do not have to wait for the DNS propagation to be complete before you can follow this step. In fact to give a seaming less no downtime to your blog, it is best to do this straight away. Log into the control panel of your new web hosting and install the blog like you did when you first started your blog on your old host.

Log into your web space of your new host using your ftp program. From the files you downloaded in step 3, find the folder ‘wp-content’ and upload it to the root directly of your blog, e.g. ‘public_html’ or ‘/blog’ etc. As the folder ‘wp-content’ will already exist from the new install you done in step 6, you will be advised this file already exists. Choose to overwrite this with all the files.

When you installed wordpress on your new host, this will have created a mysql database for it. Log into your control panel and access this database so that you are logged into your phpMyAdmin. Import the database file that you download from step 2 above.

As soon as the DNS propagation is complete from step 5 your blog has been transferred.

I hope that you have found this useful and found it easy to follow. If you have experienced any difficulties, leave a comment below and either myself or one of my blog readers can leave a follow up comment with some help.

Remember, I did not have a clue how to move my blog, and I managed it, so I know that you can too.

In that post I wrote about a new product called ClickBank Ad Rotator which I highly recommend. I also said that I would slowly be replacing the Adsense ads with Clickbank ads, so I thought it is about time I got on and done it. So now I have done it on my blog, as you can see and I will be replacing the ads on other sites of mine. Please go back and read the post by clicking on the above link to learn more about why I have made the change.
